Contract: Full time, permanent contract
Salary: £28,000 p.a.
Location: Hybrid working potential, based in Central London
Gain broad publishing experience in a role that combines editorial support, project coordination and author liaison, while developing a holistic understanding of how visually ambitious, design-led books are made.
Thames & Hudson was founded in 1949 by Walter and Eva Neurath. Their passion and mission was to create a ‘museum without walls’ and to make accessible to a large reading public the world of art and the research of top scholars.
Thames & Hudson are looking for a well-organized, enthusiastic and self-motivated Editorial Assistant to join our dynamic team, reporting to the Managing Editor and Director of Publishing and Digital, and working closely with a small but dedicated and wide-ranging team. This is rare opportunity to gain a holistic perspective of how visually ambitious, design-led books are made. Some previous experience in publishing or a related field is an advantage – this role would suit an editorial intern looking for their first full-time position, an editorial assistant looking to broaden their remit, or someone from another area of publishing who wants to move into Editorial.

- Keeping track of and posting complimentary author copies, as well as booking general deliveries and collections
- Uploading metadata and organizing sales materials

- Helping to prepare and proofread editorial materials, such as for sales presentations and book fairs, keying in proofreading changes, and generating PDFs
- Sending out and chasing Author Questionnaires for the Press and Marketing department
- Creating internet spreads for individual titles and managing the circulation and approval process
- Supporting the online Volume lists, including fulfilling orders, proofreading campaign pages and communication assets, and contributing to Volume meetings
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

- Experience of office and administrative work
- Exceptional attention to detail and professionalism
