Location: The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are Wednesday and Thursday.

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is a leading international publisher with strengths in trade, children’s, professional and academic publishing, both digitally and in print. We are currently looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and organised editorial assistant to provide administrative and organisational support working on the Bloomsbury Classical Studies list. Classical Studies is one of our most established academic lists, publishing across the UK secondary-school and global higher-education markets. With particular strengths in the fields of ancient drama, classical reception and language teaching, the list publishes a diverse portfolio from research monographs to student introductions.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand about a broad range of activities across the publishing business and develop the key skills required for a career in publishing. The successful candidate will join a friendly team based in our central London offices.

The purpose of the role is to assist the publisher for Classical Studies in the effective management of print and digital products throughout the publication process. This includes liaising with authors to ensure typescripts are delivered on time, preparing typescripts for production (including evaluating image quality and selecting and securing images), sending proposals and draft typescripts for review, managing backlist titles, and other administrative duties.

This position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme.
