Are you a highly organised individual with a passion for project management and editorial processes? Bloomsbury is seeking a detail-oriented individual to support their Major Reference Work programme.

Part of the Non-Consumer Division, Bloomsbury Digital Resources is committed to serving a global community of students, scholars, instructors, and librarians by providing creative online research and learning environments that deliver excellence and originality.

Whether it be primary documents, critical texts, historical archives, or the latest in video and audio resources, we are committed to enhancing the research experience with innovative, engaging, and dynamic digital resources of the highest quality. The focus will be:

  • Supporting the Academic Editorial team in achieving their revenue and profitability targets
  • Supporting the timely delivery and release of the Major Reference Work (MRW) programme
  • Project-managing MRWs from contract stage through to handover to production using Bloomsbury Content Manager, our bespoke system for MRW workflows


Responsibilities

  • Issuing contracts to MRW contributors
  • Preparing and distributing editorial guidelines documentation to MRW editors and contributors
  • Maintaining oversight of MRWs in Bloomsbury Content Manager to ensure projects progress smoothly and according to their schedules
  • Liaising with MRW contributors to ensure they have the information they require to submit their articles; attending to contributor queries
  • Managing the flow of information and content to MRW editors and contributors to ensure that all content is complete and has been reviewed and revised according to the directions of the MRW editors
  • Collating and briefing manuscripts and image content to production
  • Managing copyright permissions for images and other third-party content
  • Liaising with external editors to ensure that queries are answered and issues are addressed
  • Reporting to the Editorial Director for MRWs on the progress of the programme, highlighting issues with individual projects
  • Producing minutes from meetings with external editors and/or internal stakeholders, as required

  • Relevant processes, systems and websites

Additional information

The role is based at our Oxford office, Kemp House, Chawley Park, Cumnor Hill, Oxford OX2 9PH on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are:

This position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. The rental deposit loan can be up to £3,000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
