Faber is an award-winning, independent publisher. We publish the very best children’s books, from picture books to Young Adult: relevant, inclusive and necessary stories that are edited and illustrated responsibly, and in which all children feel represented and important. Our authors include Moira Buffini, Emma Carroll, Mariesa Dulak, Natasha Farrant, Swapna Haddow, Kieran Larwood, Margaret MacDonald and Jason Reynolds, and illustrators such as Rebecca Cobb, Luke Edward Hall and Chris Mould. We are in the business of giving all children and young people the courage and confidence to live life to the full. Founded in 1929, our first catalogue said, ‘It is by reading such books that children learn the difference between the shoddy and the genuine.’ We still believe reading has the power to change children's lives.

We are looking to recruit an editorial assistant for the Faber Children’s team to support the publisher and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the department.


Responsibilities

This role involves administrative & diary support for the Children’s publisher, ongoing communication with authors, and building & maintaining working relationships with other departments. As well as this, you will handle some general admin for the department, Biblio updates, raising costings, writing up deal memos, originating copy.

Knowledge, skills & experience

  • You will be organised and have strong written abilities and verbal skills
  • You’ll enjoy working as part of a team and meeting new people, whilst holding a passion for children’s books across a variety of age groups
  • You’ll have an eye for spotting mistakes
  • Your ability to juggle multiple tasks at once and be able to prioritise them efficiently is important to this role
  • Previous experience within an admin-based office role would be advantageous, as well as a knowledge of Biblio

Additional information

This is a permanent, full-time position based in our London office in Farringdon. We offer a hybrid working model, with four days a week in the office and one day remote. This position will be reporting to the Children’s Publisher. The closing date is Sunday 4th January 2026.
