Shakespeare’s Globe is currently seeking a new coordinator for our Higher Education department on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Higher Education Coordinator will ensure the effective running of our daily activities through in-person and online support, administrative planning, and assistance for the department. They will welcome and support participants, collaborate to support organisation-wide activities, ensure colleagues are aware of activities, and share responsibility with other team members for the effective running of all spaces for scheduled activities.

Regular early morning and evening working is required as part of this role, scheduled in advance. For additional hours, time in lieu is agreed. There are no extra payments for additional hours worked. Flexible working may be considered where appropriate to ensure full support for on-site activities.


The team:

Education is at the heart of Shakespeare’s Globe. We run a year-round programme of activities and courses for schools, families, universities, drama schools, scholars and the general public. Our programmes are aligned with values of social justice, access and Shakespeare for all.


Responsibilities

  • Company manage our Higher Education groups, working on-site to ensure participants are well supported throughout our courses with their educational needs and pastoral care.
  • Support the booking processes across all activities to ensure that successful bookings are made and managed according to the needs of the department.
  • Support in the preparation, and re-setting of spaces for lectures, workshops, and scene rehearsals. This may include the provision of hospitality, technical support, props, and handouts.
  • Liaise with freelancers, theatre professionals, and visiting speakers relating to the planning and delivery of courses and events.
  • Provide on-site logistical and operational support to delivery teams as required to support the changing day-to-day operation.
  • Process payments and expenses and ensure the prompt payment of freelance staff using financial software.


Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Professional, customer-focused approach, ensuring promotion of education work.
  • Strong organisational skills with proven ability to own, plan, and prioritise a varied workload.
  • Strong administrative skills with a good working knowledge of Windows-based software (particularly Excel); some familiarity with digital meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom or Teams) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide range of people at all levels.
  • Customer-focused with a professional approach to tasks.
  • A supportive team member and good team worker.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
  • A knowledge of how education organisations function.
  • The ability to respond rapidly and effectively to changing situations.
  • A creative individual with a passion for Theatre and/or the Arts.
