Location: The role is a full-time, permanent and field-based position requiring the post-holder to reside within the designated territory with occasional visits to the Bloomsbury’s London office as required.

Join Bloomsbury's Academic Sales department and play a vital role in shaping the future of learning. Our team is dedicated to delivering world-class higher education resources to universities and institutions across the country. As a collective, we are responsible for driving budgeted revenue and ensuring that Bloomsbury's essential content reaches students, academics, and researchers.

This field-based role is a key part of that mission. Reporting to the Academic & Professional Sales Director, you will be the face of Bloomsbury in your territory, building lasting partnerships and directly contributing to the growth and success of our Higher Education list.

The role
As a Higher Education Sales Representative, your time will be focused on the following key responsibilities:

  • Deliver budgeted revenue across Bloomsbury's higher education products (books and digital platforms) within your defined territory.
  • Lead direct sales contact with key decision-makers, including module leaders, Heads of Department, and key library contacts.
  • Use consultative selling techniques to identify customer needs and win adoptions and direct sales for our products.
  • Develop and demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of our products to take full advantage of all sales opportunities.
  • Provide crucial feedback on market trends and competitors to help shape our sales, marketing, and editorial strategies.
  • Maintain an accurate and detailed pipeline of business opportunities using our Salesforce CRM system.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Proven successful field sales record in a relevant market.
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to deliver recommendations.
  • The ability to plan, implement, and communicate company sales strategies.
  • A creative thinker and problem-solver.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
  • Experience of using Salesforce CRM is highly desirable.
  • Self-motivated, with strong organisational skills and effective time management.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Current valid full UK driving license.

The successful candidate must hold a valid, full driving licence.
