Channel your design talent into projects that explore the future of health, climate change, and more.

The Liminal Space is a purpose-led creative studio that uses art and design approaches to build understanding, participation and social action. A combination of a creative agency and a think tank, we are a multidisciplinary team on a mission to empower more people, more profoundly to contribute to greater positive social and health outcomes.

We work with clients and organisations who are excited about taking a new approach to engaging audiences, generating research insights and solving strategic challenges. These include some of the country’s top universities, independent funders and government bodies. Recent projects have covered topics ranging from the future of work, the ethics of gene editing and a blueprint for the museum of the future.

As a Junior Designer, you’ll be part of our design team, working across a number of socially important topics to bring to life our installations, experiences, websites, presentations and more. This is a diverse and hands-on role, working closely with our Art Directors to apply concepts across physical and digital outputs for diverse audiences.

We are looking for someone who is keen to develop their skills in bringing creative concepts to life through artworking for print and digital production, to a professional level. A keen eye for detail is a must in this role, as is being organised in juggling multiple projects and deadlines. Projects might include designing a new installation about women’s reproductive health or creating a fictional game to support public dialogue on climate change

Key responsibilities

Making it real

  • You will apply creative concepts across a range of tangible physical and digital design outcomes, ensuring the project graphics are engaging, cohesive, accessible and look great.
  • You will be supported in learning how to artwork to a professional standard, ready to be shared with printers, developers and other project partners, in order to bring the project to fruition.

Present and correct

  • You will work with project teams to prepare presentations for pitches, proposals and design development decks for clients.
  • You’ll apply the Liminal Space identity across decks, ensuring a high visual standard and legibility across all our presentations.
  • You will work closely with our communications team, delivering digital and moving image assets for our social channels.

Nightclubbing

  • You will become the go-to person for repeat design assets for our Night Club programme (an in-person health intervention for night shift workers), which includes posters and assets for socials.
  • You’ll get to know the Night Club identity inside out and work closely with the project team to deliver cohesive and timely updates for their project delivery across the country.

Bringing creative spark

  • You will bring creative energy and spark to projects spanning a range of topics, scales, audiences and formats. Bringing exciting references, experiences and ideas to the table across print and motion, working with our creative team to deliver novel, engaging and beautiful concepts.

Design squad

  • You will work closely with many hands across the Liminal Space team, including the Art Directors, production team and project managers. You will be expected to manage your workflow across multiple projects that culminate in a variety of creative outputs.
