Bring your design skills and passion for factual storytelling to this junior role, and help turn global news stories into engaging short-form videos.

The Economist’s award-winning video department produces factual content that reflects the newspaper’s global outlook. Our short, focused videos deliver clear, incisive analysis in a compelling, accessible format. They attract millions of views each month and are published on our website and app, and across platforms including Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook and TikTok.

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic graduate or graphic designer to join our video team as a junior motion-graphics designer. In this role we will train you in motion design so you can help to create editorial and data-driven videos and visual assets for use across our digital platforms. You should have a strong willingness to learn and effective communication and solid illustration skills, along with a keen interest in video, global politics, current affairs and factual storytelling. An interest in data visualisation and map creation would be a plus.

As a junior motion-graphics designer your main responsibility will be to support the development and creation of motion graphics for our short-form vertical videos. You will gain hands-on experience across all stages of video production and the wider editorial process. From storyboarding to delivering final assets, you will develop skills in typography, data visualisation, map design and motion graphics for editorial storytelling. If you are curious, eager to develop and excited to help shape The Economist’s video output, we would love to hear from you.
