Salary range: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience

Bonnier Books UK is looking to recruit a junior production or production controller to work across its varied imprints on a wide list of colour and mono tiles. This will include working on new titles, reprints and co-editions. We are looking for an organised and proactive individual who wants to build on their existing experience and who can deliver titles on schedule, within budget and to the required standards of quality. 

This role is an exciting opportunity to work across a wide variety of titles, from board books and pop ups to licensed products and mono trade fiction and non-fiction.  The successful candidate will be happy to liaise directly with the creative teams for files and approvals and keen to build relationships with global printers. We would love someone to join our close-knit team in early 2025 as we move to brand new bespoke offices in a vibrant East London location, close to Old Street station. 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing a list of front & backlist titles, plus co-edition printings.
  • Supplying costs using scales or negotiating directly with established printer base.
  • Maintaining and updating Biblio schedules, experience of Biblio would be an advantage.
  • Raising purchase orders, reconciling and approving invoices. 
  • Arranging freight as required.
  • Managing and checking co-editions and frontlist files, using our online portal for plotter checking and corrections stage of the process.
  • Closely monitoring schedules and keeping all co-editions on track to meet schedule dates. 
  • Working with the in-house creative team on start-ups for new titles. 
  • Organising colour proofing for new titles with our Reprographics house.
  • Supporting line manager and wider production team as required. 

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Previous experience of working in a production department as a production assistant or junior controller for a minimum of six months would be preferred. 
  • Experience of working on colour books; additional mono experience would be an advantage.
  • Experience of managing print scheduling. 
  • Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to build and maintain excellent internal and external working relationships.
