
Literature programmer

Salary: Up to £23,313 (FTC of £38,855) dependant on experience.
We are currently looking for a passionate Literature Programmer to join our Arts Programming team on a part time, 24 hours per week (3 days) permanent basis.
Southbank Centre’s Literature and Spoken Word team curate a year-round programme encompassing a wide range of genres and scales, from poetry and spoken word, to UK and World exclusive talks with internationally acclaimed authors and artists.
The role of Literature Programmer (structured as a job-share) is an integral part of the team’s creative output, working across the full range of the year-round programme. The main responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- To promote the artistic development of Southbank Centre through the efficient management of Literature and Spoken Word events at Southbank Centre, and to help maintain and increase the quality and variety of these events according to the demands of the Centre’s artistic policy and financial needs.
- Select and coordinate the Literature and Spoken Word programme within the framework and strategy defined by the Head of Literature and Spoken Word.
- To make artistic contributions to Southbank Centre’s wider festival programme, including programming engaging talks and debates related to each thematic focus, in collaboration with the Head of Literature and Spoken Word.
- To be responsible for the day-to-day operational overview of the Literature and Spoken Word programme in collaboration with the Head of Literature and Spoken Word, ensuring that accurate and timely information on the programme is communicated internally and in particular to the Event Management team to allow efficient and effective delivery of all the events.
- Undertake research activity in relation to the development of new areas of the Literature and Spoken Word programme and year-round festival programme in conjunction with the Head of Literature and Spoken Word.
- To be responsible for managing excellent relationships with writers, publishers and other speakers on behalf of Southbank Centre.
- To be part of a team which is positive, energetic, creative and mutually supportive.
