The Manager, Professional Licensing will work with the Directors to maximise sales of Theatrical Performing licences for International and Professional customers. They will respond to the needs of International sub-agents, particularly with regard to plays, and manage any required communication with CT NY, authors and agents. Additional responsibilities will include processing professional play licences handled by the UK office throughout applicable International territories and handle relevant translations used in theatrical productions.
The successful applicant will work with Director, Marketing & Business Strategy to form plans to improve CT’s reach to the International market with SVP oversight. They will provide the highest standard of timely, accurate and knowledgeable customer service, and ensure the most effective and efficient application of operational and IT systems, while working under general supervision.
Responsibilities
- Maximise the revenues from sales of all Concord Theatricals products, including primarily theatrical licensing to the International and Professional markets.
- Oversee all licensing matters relating to ORiGiN and Play Bureau in conjunction with amateur licensing, and ensure International sub-agents have the latest licensing information and follow correct procedures.
- Provide all customers with accurate and knowledgeable advice on the telephone, by email and online.
- Support and contribute ideas to the effective implementation of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Process licences and related functions in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
- To use all systems effectively and contribute ideas for improving systems and applications to optimise processing efficiencies.
- Maintain effective systems for protecting copyright and ensuring that monies legally due on all performances of Concord Theatricals rights are tracked and collected.
Outline of specific functions
- Maximise the revenues from sales of all Concord Theatricals products, including primarily theatrical licensing to the International and Professional markets.
- Provide timely responses to all enquiries and knowledgeable advice and suggestions on Concord Theatricals products.
- Develop relationships with regular customers, authors, agents/representatives.
- Proactively contact customers to promote Concord Theatricals products.
- Participate in marketing campaigns to promote new and other specific Concord Theatricals products.
- Oversee licensing matters by ORiGiN and Play Bureau in conjunction with amateur licensing, and ensure current information on availability is provided to all International sub-agents.
- Oversee approvals and usage of translations of Concord Theatricals play titles handled by the UK office.
- To ensure you provide all customers with accurate and knowledgeable advice on the telephone, by email and online, including:
- Having a good knowledge of the content of the plays and musicals in the licensing catalogue.
- Providing current information on the availability of titles based on up-to-date communications with authors and agents.
- Helping organisations select titles for their group, cast, theatre and/or audience.
- Helping organisations to plan a season or programme.
- Use all systems effectively – assist in the monitoring and maintaining the performance of systems used by the licensing team and contribute ideas for improving systems and applications to optimise processing efficiencies.
- Assist in maintaining effective systems for protecting copyright and ensuring that monies legally due on all performances of Concord rights are tracked and collected.
- Provide regular and ad hoc data on customers and sales performance in collaboration with Directors and collate and produce reports.
- Ensure that all relevant sales and payment documentation and data are processed on a timely and accurate basis as required by the accounting department.
- Represent Concord at Press Nights and other industry events including evenings and weekends as required.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing and shipping of production materials.
- Monitor processing volumes and identify any issues, backlogs, and delays.
- Any reasonable requests from direct line manager.
- To consult regularly with the following colleagues:
- Directors, Licensing: to refer to for support and authority regarding any local operational or system issues.
- Amateur Licensing Team: to liaise regularly and provide support with restrictions and general licensing processes to ensure consistency within the whole team. Also, to support Amateur Licensing in busy periods, when possible, on system issues, contacting authors and agents for clearances, and providing knowledge of Concord Theatricals play titles as alternatives to restricted or withdrawn titles
- Other Management Personnel: In the UK or US as deemed necessary.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Theatre Industry
- Knowledge of the Theatre Industry including but not limited to Customer Service, Sales, Administration, Production
- A knowledge of and interest in learning more about the titles in our various catalogues, with a focus on play titles
- Negotiation experience
