We are looking for a new work administrator (PA to heads of department) to join the National Theatre's new work team. This role presents a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth view of the artistic ambition of the National Theatre and how that is applied to projects in development.
Responsibilities
The role has two main areas of responsibility:
- PA duties to director of new work and the head of studio - a large part of the role is co-ordinating the diary and correspondence of the department leadership team and ensuring smooth, timely and effective communication on their behalf both internally and externally. To support the department leadership team in scheduling, managing meetings & preparing paperwork for meetings; responding on their behalf (where appropriate) & prioritising their workload sensitively.
- Department administration - the role provides administrative support to the department including travel and visa arrangements for artists, coordination of workshop sharings and readings, coordinating small scale strategic projects and maintaining the general smooth operation of the department.
The role is vital to the success of the department and is an active conduit for information flowing internally and externally.
Knowledge, skills & experience
- Exceptional administrative skills with exemplary attention to detail and follow-through, seeing tasks from inception to completion.
- Experience in arts administration, with a knowledge and passion for theatre and the development of new work.
- Relevant experience in a personal assistant role to a senior member of staff, including complex diary management.
- Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships quickly and communicate confidently and positively with a variety of people, both face to face, on email and over the telephone, working with the utmost discretion, respect and confidentiality.
- Resourceful, proactive and able to problem-solve with a can-do attitude, with the ability to swiftly develop an understanding of the work of the New Work Department.
