Gain a broad spectrum of experience across a show's production lifecycle, from initial conception discussions and rehearsals to opening night, with this 6-month traineeship,
tiata fahodzi is the UK’s leading British African heritage contemporary theatre company. As a black-led, artist centred company we are driven to support global majority artists that have been historically excluded. We create a home where artists and audiences can belong, while being fearless risk-takers in our productions and projects. We work collaboratively within the cultural sector to positively disrupt existing practises and create justice and social impact. We empower and celebrate British African heritage artists, creatives and freelance workers at all stages of their careers, whilst cultivating and nurturing our audiences and targeted communities. In 2022, the company celebrated its 25th birthday with a season entitled ‘Year of the Artist’ and was able to mark a new chapter in the Arts Council Portfolio Organisation’s history by securing further investment for 2024-26.
As a company with a touring remit and an emphasis on the generation of new work for the British African theatrical canon, this role will provide the intern relevant experience within a theatre production office. With this internship, you will gain the relevant experience to pursue further work as a production assistant and allow you to consider what lies beyond; such as pursuing work as a production coordinator in a commercial west end environment or as a producer for companies like tiata fahodzi.
