
Production controller

Gemini Books Group is looking for a detail-driven production controller to support our busy production team.
Gemini Books Group is an independent publisher, established in 2023. We make beautiful, illustrated books for children and adults that spark readers’ imaginations. From our founder and other experienced publishers to new recruits and rising stars, all our people share a passion for creating books that readers young and old will want to spend time with.
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will have responsibility for managing our production operations from purchase order through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing projects to ensure processes and deadlines are met and problem solve any potential issues.
- Expedite the print production to schedule and cost, inclusive of raising PO’s and ensure the printer is working to the correct specification.
- Progress and chase files, plotters, approvals and advances from Studio, printers and our co-edition customers.
- Collating, checking and sending shipping documents to customers and our accounts team to close orders and send to invoicing.
- Communicate any special requirements to the printer and ensure they are carried out and any additional costs involved are approved.
- Negotiate schedules and simple additional costs with the printer.
- Working with the Production Manager, managing suppliers to meet safety standards and test products where necessary.
- Chasing customers for shipping instructions and carton markings and ensure the printer follows correct guidelines.
- Communicating with 3rd party suppliers in the Far East to ensure customer requirements are met and deliveries are made on time to the relative freight forwarders warehouse.
- Ensure internal database is continually updated.
- Ensure internal control documents are continually updated.
- Work with suppliers to ensure quality standards are met without jeopardising the schedule.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, printers and customers.
