
Production coordinator RHS Chelsea Flower Show

BBC Studios is looking for a production coordinator (PC) to join its RHS Chelsea Flower Show team for the 2026 series. Working on the BBC’s coverage of the world’s most famous flower show, you will help set up and deliver programmes for BBC1, BBC2 and BBC daytime.
Our production management team consists of a production manager (PM), two production coordinators (PC) and two production management assistants (PMA). This PC role is responsible for setting up the outside broadcast (OB) and coordinating access and accreditation, crew, accommodation and travel for the production, with over 200 people on location. You will be the first point of contact for logistics for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), crew, presenters and other key stakeholders and suppliers and, alongside the rest of the production management team, you will be responsible for ensuring a smooth operation on location. This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity on a much-loved and well-respected production for someone who is looking to expand their OB experience and work towards stepping up to junior production manager (JPM).
Responsibilities
- Setting up office systems in pre-production including IT onboarding for new starters.
- Forecasting OB spend and managing costs (including supporting the OB PMA and production runner in managing their spend) and reporting back regularly on financial position to the PM.
- Forming and maintaining positive relationships with external stakeholders. Liaising with the RHS and suppliers to plan and deliver a smooth setup and derig of the production base on location. Coordinating plans internally including with the OB directors, technical producer and series editor. Feeding back regularly and escalating issues to the PM.
- Coordinating accreditation and vehicle access for all our team and suppliers for the rig, production week and de-rig
- Coordinating travel, accommodation, dietary requirements and PPE for all presenters, onscreen guests, production team and crew for the OB.
- Coordinating the tasks and workload of the OB PMA and Production Runner to support in setting up the OB.
- In discussion with the camera and sound supervisors and the floor manager, booking all PSC crew and runners for the OB. Assisting PM in contracting all crew on Smartbook.
- Assisting in ensuring compliance with BBC Studios H&S policies and the RA. Ensuring supplier RAs and insurance documents are received and H&S vetting is completed where required.
- Completing Albert predicted footprint, Carbon Action Plan and final footprint for the production. Championing environmentally responsible practices and ensuring compliance with Albert certification.
- Coordinating and completing the post-production paperwork for all episodes and international versions on Silvermouse alongside the other PC and PMAs
- Overseeing the production runner in managing the production storage facility and inventory pre- and post-event.
- Assisting in ensuring compliance with BBC policies, guidelines, legislative and regulatory requirements, in order to minimise the BBC’s exposure to risk.
Knowledge, skills & experience
- Proven production coordinator experience in broadcast television
- Experience of coordinating an event or live output, including working on location
- Have excellent logistical and organisational skills, anticipating issues before they arise and problem-solving calmly and effectively under pressure when things don’t go according to plan
- Have proven experience in accurately managing and forecasting costs and negotiating with external suppliers
- Be a great team collaborator including managing junior members of the team
- Be an effective communicator, with the confidence to deal with senior stakeholders (both internal and external) and high-profile talent
- Be ambitious in their approach to improving sustainability and efficiency on the production
Additional information
This role offers hybrid working (minimum three days per week in the Bristol office) and will be a (6 months) freelancer PAYE contract. You will need to be fully available to work in London for the week, rig and de-rig (2 weeks approx) 11th – 24th May 2026. The successful candidate will need to be available to start in early January 2026.
