Intellect is currently looking for a production editor to join our team. Intellect is an independent academic publisher for scholars and practitioners teaching and researching in the arts, media and creative industries. Best known for our work in the visual and performing arts, we provide publishing services in many subject areas, backed by almost 40 years of steady growth, and a reputation for excellence in design and production.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day to day editorial management of a portfolio of journals
  • Liaise with and provide support for our authors, editors and their contributors
  • Liaise with and monitor the work of our production stakeholders - copy editors, typesetters, printers and distributors to ensure a timely and efficient production process

As part of a small team, there will be some other areas of work to which you may be asked to contribute. Training will be given on the job as required.


Knowledge, skills & experience

  • Project management skills
  • Administrative skills (including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite)
  • Proofreading skills
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all stakeholders
  • Organisational skills: ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload, meeting deadlines and able to work on your own initiative
  • Attention to detail, resourceful and proactive
  • Degree-level education desired with a keen interest in the dissemination of research
  • Customer service skills
  • Data entry and data manipulation/interpretation skills

Additional information

This is a full-time, permanent position, 37.5 hrs pw with a probationary period of six months. This position will be based in our office in Bristol, with flexible and hybrid working available. All interviews will be conducted at our Bristol office or remotely via Gmeet where applicable.
