Salary range: £42,730 - £47,620 (dependent on skills and experience)

 

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join the Barbican Music team, to co-ordinate all aspects of pre-production and event management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Barbican productions to the highest technical and artistic standard, through competent and precise advanced planning, administration, communication, budgeting and the supervision of events. A working knowledge of event travel, hotels, backline, technical riders, staging, visas and FEU tax is required. Evening and weekend work is an integral part of the role.

This position will focus on classical music events of the Music programme in the Barbican Concert Hall and in off-site venues, but with an opportunity to work on all genres. To be successful in your application you will need an extensive and wide-ranging working knowledge of music and the classical music industry, substantial experience in an event management role in a similar environment (multi-disciplinary arts venue, music festival or performing arts organisation, Concert Hall) and a high level of interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills are also essential.

The ability to multitask, work under pressure and excellent interpersonal skills are essential. Weekend and evening work is required in this role. 
 

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Good knowledge and interest in the arts, and in particular classical music.
  • Good knowledge of the classical music industry, and a thorough understanding of all the creative processes of music-making.
  • Proven experience working in a multi-disciplinary arts venue, major music venue or an events company in an event production role.
  • Proven understanding of event production, stage and technical delivery.

You must be able to demonstrate:

  • a track record of stakeholder management and the ability to consult with, negotiate and persuade internal and external stakeholders.
  • proven experience of managing complex budgets.
  • proven track record of complex project management.
  • an ability to work inclusively and collaboratively across boundaries to achieve positive outcomes.

Please note this role is event production focused and not a technical production role.
