Bonnier Books UK is looking for a curious, organised and creative Publishing Innovation Manager to join our team. Working across all divisions – children’s, adult trade and Igloo – the Publishing Innovation Manager will coordinate, interrogate and test new technologies and how they can be used to enhance the publishing process. Their main focus to begin with will be to coordinate responsible and ethical AI usage across publishing functions, in line with BBUK’s strategic objectives, while ensuring author and illustrator IP and copyright is protected.
This role will facilitate ethical and structured AI usage and other technical innovation within the business and establish best practice across teams. They will also work internationally with Bonnier Group teams in other European territories to share learnings and advice.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with editorial, design, marketing and audio to establish a clear and effective structure for experimentation, learning and implementation.
- Facilitate structured ways of working, provide regular updates to key stakeholders.
- Identify and drive a number of pilot projects around AI usage and analyse results.
- Collaborate and exchange ideas and learnings with other colleagues at Bonnier Books companies across Europe.
- Chair meetings and ensure projects stay on track.
- Ensure adherence to agreed ethical and legal AI guidelines.
- Instill an innovative and curious mindset amongst all departments.
- Assess ROI on any new technology which is trialed across departments and feedback to senior team/co-CEO/CIO.
- Foster a culture of informed understanding and transparency around AI or new technology usage and provide regular advice for best-in-class communication around projects.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Strong understanding of publishing processes (editorial, design, marketing, audio) and the potential role of technology within these areas.
- Strong and proven project management skills, ideally involving technology or innovation implementation.
- Demonstrates a curious, innovative mindset with a willingness to experiment responsibly.
- Highly organised and able to coordinate & lead cross-functional efforts effectively.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to effectively navigate technical, ethical, and creative discussions around AI and other new technologies.
- Proactive, and demonstrates capability to foster a culture of structured experimentation and continuous improvement.
