Help discover the next standout books and screen adaptations by reading new material and identifying emerging talent.

RR Scouting is one of the UK’s leading literary scouting companies with offices in London and New York. We read and report on manuscripts from publishers and agents from around the globe with a focus on the UK, US and European territories, advising and supporting our clients in their acquisition of books and IP in their own markets, and for adaptation for the screen as feature film and TV. Our aim is to identify and cover the latest fresh, new and distinct voices in both fiction and non-fiction. We also curate a boutique children’s list for a select number of our publishers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive candidate to join our scouting team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about storytelling across books, television, and other media, and eager to learn more about the publishing and entertainment industries.

Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hard-working, confident and a quick reader, with excellent communication and organisational skills. Scouting is a fast-paced role with tight deadlines, so we're looking for someone who thrives under pressure, can manage multiple priorities, and enjoys working collaboratively. The role is also highly sociable, involving regular networking and relationship-building across the industry.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Reading and evaluating new material across a range of genres and formats.
  • Writing clear, insightful reports and summaries for clients on a regular basis.
  • Monitoring industry trends and identifying projects, creators and emerging talent.
  • Maintaining databases, client portals and internal records.
  • Responding to client queries and assisting with research projects.
  • Calling in material from agents, editors and other industry contacts.
  • Attending client meetings, presenting recommendations, taking notes and supporting follow-up actions.
  • Assisting with diary management, scheduling and preparations for industry events.
  • Attending book launches, festivals, book fairs and other industry events in the UK and internationally.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with agents, editors, producers and other industry professionals.

The Ideal Candidate will be:

  • Passionate about stories across books, television and wider media.
  • A strong reader with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Curious about the publishing, television and entertainment industries.
  • Confident in professional settings and enjoys building relationships and networking.

To Apply: Send a CV and cover letter. Successful applicants will be asked to complete a book report.

We welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented in the creative industries.
