We are currently looking for a Senior Technician to join our Production team on a full time permanent contract. The Southbank Centre Production team looks after all the technical needs for all the events that are on our site. Under the overall direction of the Production Managers and Technical Supervisors, to play a significant role in the production team in implementing the technical requirements of promoters, artists and other key stakeholders to ensure a safe, smooth and professional presentation of the technical requirements of each event wherever Southbank Centre activities are taking place.
Key responsibilities
- To work effectively and safely to provide the technical requirements of artists/promoters and internal stakeholders to a high professional standard.
- To supervise in house and freelance technicians and casual staff as required.
- To play a proactive role in the development of the Production department by contributing to the specification of equipment as well as the review and implementation of processes.
- To demonstrate a flexible approach to the department’s work and to contribute to working groups as required for the fulfilment of the department and organisation’s aims.
- To undertake the maintenance, preparation and operation of equipment and to ensure that equipment and facilities used and provided are fit for purpose.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Obtains a thorough working knowledge and experience of the safety requirements, operation and handling of technical equipment for the disciplines covered by the Production Department (including but not limited to, stage, lighting, sound, rigging and AV) plus power distribution, musical instruments and back-line equipment and is highly competent in one of the aforementioned disciplines.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Safe Working Practices and relevant Health & Safety regulation, including the ability to carry out risk assessments.
- Able to understand and interpret plans and scale drawings Is able to efficiently prioritise their work and able to work calmly under pressure and multitask.
- Professional and effective in their communication skills and works collaboratively.

The annual salary stated is based on the Full-Time Equivalent (40 hours per week). If the job is part-time, the weekly hours will be stated within the advert.
