Could you help Sky Design turn an idea into the next big thing?

If you're unsure what path to take in product design or switching careers, you're in the right place. Join Sky Design and get the skills and experience to help shape your career.

This team designs the experience at the heart of the home, weaving multiple vertical products into a single horizontal platform for partners, and a world-class in-home experience for customers. Its full-stack design team encompasses UX & UI designers, industrial designers, content strategists and writers, user researchers, software engineers, and so much more — all focused on quality in even the tiniest details, so the sum total of the in-home experience is excellent for all customers.

This year-long opportunity allows you to explore different areas within Sky Design:

  • Entertainment - putting entertainment at the heart of the home by creating immersive, personalised, and accessible experiences.
  • Sports - creating world-class, personalised sports experiences that connect fans to their favourites and give them the best seat in the house.
  • New Products - designing the next wave of global experiences in gaming, health, fitness, education, travel, social, immersive, and more.
  • Commerce - enabling a scalable, world-class, global commerce experience that is the platform of choice for operators, partners and customers.
  • Platform - defining, driving, and establishing the Heart of the Home experience as the world’s most connected platform.
  • Experimentation - designing the possible, transforming abstract ideas and concepts into tangible experiences with a user-centric, problem-solving design approach.

What you'll be doing

  • Become one of the team, working on real projects that shape the products we make.
  • Work with the Lead and Senior designers who will support and mentor you to discover your new career.
  • Learn how to use design tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Userzoom, and more.
  • Develop your presentation skills and discover how to communicate your design ideas to others.
  • Work with UX researchers on planning and conducting research, learning how to analyse data and produce impactful insights that can be used to improve our user’s experience
  • Get stuck into design processes and learn about giving and receiving feedback.

Skills you'll learn

  • Visual design - creating a winning look & feel for our user interfaces and products
  • Wireframing & prototyping – building the bones of the product on which everything hangs
  • User research - Uncover user needs and get close to the customer using a wide variety of research methods
  • Motion & interaction design - creating movement and novel ways of interacting with products
  • Information architecture – working out the structure of what our users see
  • UX Copy - carefully scrutinising and contemplating each and every word our customers interact with.

What we’re looking for

  • You might already have a design related degree or experience, or you might have some less formal learning. We’re ready to help you learn whatever your level.
  • Lifelong learner – you’re learning every day and thirsty to know more.
  • Passionate about design – you're excited about creating things – both visually and conceptually. You’ve got a good eye for the detail but you can also step back and see the bigger picture when you need to.
  • Curious – you’re dying to know what’s going on in the head of your user. You ask questions and you’re fascinated by the answers.
  • New perspectives – you bring your ideas to work and share them liberally.
  • Someone you love to work with – you're a person we can get along with. You communicate your ideas and designs well. You share the Sky Design team values: Play Nice, Serious Fun, Be Bold and Captivated by Customers.
  • Can-do attitude - you’re not afraid to muck in and do what needs to be done, with a healthy sense of passion. Sometimes you even do things that scare you.
  • Some examples of your previous work that you can show off (e.g. a portfolio).
