Walker Books is looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Sub-Rights Royalties Assistant. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to gain hands-on experience in royalties, licensing, and publishing finance.

​Supporting the Sub-rights Income and Compliance Executive, you will assist with the collection, processing, and tracking of income from Foreign Rights, Licensing, and other subsidiary rights agreements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with invoicing advances, guarantees, and royalty income
• Tracking and chasing royalty statements and unpaid invoices
• Entering and analysing royalty data accurately in our database
• Ensuring correct currency conversions, commissions, and tax deductions
• Supporting monthly reconciliations with Finance
• Maintaining compliance, VAT, and withholding tax records
• Handling payment-related queries and general administration
  

Knowledge, skills and experience

​For this role, we’re looking for someone who is:

• Exceptionally organised with strong attention to detail
• Numerate and comfortable working with financial data
• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage a varied workload
• Confident using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
  

Previous experience of working with databases and data entry would be valuable but is not essential.

​Knowledge and enthusiasm of the children's book publishing or media industry is not essential but would be advantageous.
