Walker Books is looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Sub-Rights Royalties Assistant. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to gain hands-on experience in royalties, licensing, and publishing finance.
Supporting the Sub-rights Income and Compliance Executive, you will assist with the collection, processing, and tracking of income from Foreign Rights, Licensing, and other subsidiary rights agreements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with invoicing advances, guarantees, and royalty income
- Tracking and chasing royalty statements and unpaid invoices
- Entering and analysing royalty data accurately in our database
- Ensuring correct currency conversions, commissions, and tax deductions
- Supporting monthly reconciliations with Finance
- Maintaining compliance, VAT, and withholding tax records
- Handling payment-related queries and general administration
Knowledge, skills and experience
For this role, we’re looking for someone who is:
- Exceptionally organised with strong attention to detail
- Numerate and comfortable working with financial data
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage a varied workload
- Confident using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Previous experience of working with databases and data entry would be valuable but is not essential.
Knowledge and enthusiasm of the children's book publishing or media industry is not essential but would be advantageous.
