BBC Studios’ Specialist Factual Department in Cardiff is offering an exciting six-month placement as a Trainee Production Management Assistant on the hugely popular daytime series Bargain Hunt. As one of BBC Studios’ most successful formats, Bargain Hunt produces at least 96 episodes each year and regularly attracts audiences of over 2 million viewers.

What you'll be doing

The successful candidate will work alongside the rest of the production management team, helping with tasks such as:

  • You will provide administrative support to the production team/s to ensure the smooth and efficient running of productions during various stages of the process.
  • You will be responsible for resolving a range of diverse operational issues within the role, escalating to the Junior Production Manager or Unit Manager where necessary.
  • You will be required to create value through effective and efficient management of time and resources.
  • Having the opportunity to shadow the team on location gaining first-hand insight into how filming works on Bargain Hunt.

What we're looking for

Essential

  • Demonstrates strong organisational and planning skills and manages conflicting demands to meet deadlines
  • Experience of working in a pressurised and challenging environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work collaboratively within a diverse team
  • Willing to learn core business systems and processes, including simple budgeting tasks.
  • Demonstrable experience or interest in the media; including enthusiasm for factual content
  • Team player with the ability to take the initiative
  • Creative and bursting with engaging ideas

Desirable

  • Candidates based within easy reach of Cardiff would be ideally placed for this role. A current and valid driving licence would be beneficial, although not essential.
