Trainee researcher (EastEnders)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £24,479 (plus London Weighting). Salary is dependent on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Do you love investigating topics and digging into detail? Are you a fan of EastEnders and are keen to learn how the show commits to its accurate and authentic representation of the varied issues it tackles? This opportunity is for aspiring researchers looking to build a career within continuing drama — gaining insight into how stories are shaped, supported and refined behind the scenes of a fast‑paced continuing drama.
Working under the mentorship of the EastEnders Script and Story Research team, you’ll gain first‑hand experience of how research supports the editorial process on a major production. You’ll see how research feeds into storytelling, learning how teams plan, develop and respond to the demands of a busy broadcast schedule while handling sensitive and often complex subject matter.
You’ll assist with researching a wide range of topics, from social issues to professional practices such as medical and police procedures, helping to ensure scripts are accurate, consistent and authentic. This includes reading storyline material, identifying potential research needs or issues, supporting script reviews, and helping to propose practical solutions that maintain both factual accuracy and creative intent. You may also support the organisation of research materials, assist in liaising with expert contributors, and contribute notes and insights to support story development.
