Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden (WBSL) is a purpose built, state-of-the-art film and television studio offering one of the largest facilities in the UK. This 200-acre secure site has half a million square feet of stage space, production offices and workshops together with an exterior filming tank, one of the largest indoor heated underwater filming tanks in Europe and a 100 acre back-lot. WBSL has some of the largest sound stages in the UK and is proving to be a very popular facility for production clients.
The job:
- An entry-level professional plumber working under a licensed plumbing and heating engineer/supervisor to assist with tasks which include maintenance, modification, and installation of plumbing systems at WBSL
- The plumbing apprentices provides support to full-fledge plumbers while ultimately improving their skill set which includes attending college to complete an industry recognised training course
- You will have a strong support network giving you the chance to build your knowledge and develop your skills, this will include working with our mechanical contractors and regular meetings with your college
- Tasks will be issued by the Facilities Administrators via the two-way radio and Planon application via a tablet. The Maintenance Management will assist in prioritising works. The role will primarily be based at the Leavesden site but from time to time you may be required to work off site
The Daily:
- Assisting with all plumbing duties, including repairs, maintenance, and other associated works as instructed by the line manager(s)
- Locating and marking positions for plumbing works such as pipe connection, fixtures in walls and floors, and passage holes
- Testing and identifying pipe leaks with air and water pressure gauges
- Measuring, bending, threading, and cutting pipes using hands, power tools and when needed, machines
- Reading schematic (drawings) to determine the layout of the water supply network, waste and drainage system, and plumbing systems
- Transporting tools, equipment, and material to the job location as needed
- Assisting the plumber in adhering strictly to all safety and health protocols
Administration
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks as requested by the Maintenance Management and Facilities Administrator
- Reporting progress and updates via the two-way radio system
- Keep accurate records of time spent working, description of works performed and materials used
Stock
- Ensure that the sites plumbing and mechanical equipment are looked after in such a way as to maintain continuous operation and legal compliance with local and national regulations
- Operating and maintaining mechanical systems via the BMS
- Carrying out small installation works and modifications to existing systems. This includes of dishwashers and washing machines
Knowledge, skills, experience
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working in cross-functional teams
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and capable of working on own initiative
- Prepared to participate in other non-engineering business related projects
- A positive and helpful attitude towards Heath, Safety Welfare, and safe systems of working
- Collaborate with general contractors and other construction professionals including the facilities team
- Prepared to engage and commit fully with training and personal development opportunities for the duration of the apprenticeship
