The Financial Times is looking for an enthusiastic editorial assistant to join their newsroom in London.

This position will work as part of the wider Editorial Assistants team in supporting our journalists globally by carrying out a range of administrative tasks. The role will be responsible for supporting the FT Weekend Editor and ensuring seamless coordination between teams working on FT weekend including diary management, meeting arrangements and forward planning.

This role requires exceptional organisational skills, proactiveness and the ability to communicate effectively in a range of fast-paced situations. Please note, this role is not a route into journalism but the successful candidate would have support for future careers in editorial management or the wider FT business. This is a Monday-Friday position.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Editors’ diaries and meetings
  • Provide administrative support and make travel arrangements
  • Managing freelance contributions and payments for the FT Weekend team
  • General office management

  • The ability to work assuredly and form productive relationships with colleagues across editorial
  • Exemplary discretion and professionalism especially in dealing with confidential documents and communications
  • The capacity to think strategically and anticipate potential problems for the team, and respond quickly and effectively to sudden changes and demands
  • Previous administrative experience is essential
  • The ability to prioritise effectively
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Tenacious and proactive in finding solutions to problems

How we work

Our hybrid setup means staff are expected to come into the office 3 days a week.

Our office is located across the street from St. Paul's Cathedral and is easily accessible from all corners of London. There are the main train terminals such as Liverpool Street, Moorgate, Blackfriars, City Thameslink or Waterloo all situated within walking distance or there are several tube stations within a few mins walk such as Mansion House (District or Circle line), St. Paul's (Central line), Bank (Central or Waterloo & City line) or Barbican (Central, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitan lines).
