Unlock your potential through mentoring, training and networking opportunities in this exciting programme.Creative Access is working with 11 publishing houses to provide access to our <a href="https://creativeaccess.org.uk/individuals/thrive-programme/" target="_blank">Thrive: Development Programme</a> for freelance professionals working within the publishing industry who are at mid-level in their careers.Bloomsbury Publishing, Cambridge University Press &amp; Assessments, Canongate, DK, Faber, Hachette UK, HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, Profile Books, Sage Publishing and Simon &amp; Schuster have all committed to funding places on the Thrive programme in recognition that despite being an essential and growing part of the publishing workforce, freelancers are often not being sufficiently supported with their professional development. This is exacerbated for those from communities which are traditionally under-represented in the sector.This partnership aims to address these issues by offering 17 funded places on Creative Access’s year-long professional development programme for mid-level talent, which has been specifically created for, and by, people who are historically under-represented in the creative sector.&nbsp;About the programmeThe Thrive: Development Programme is an outstanding programme of leadership training, networking and support for individuals at mid-level career stage (c.3-8 years of experience)working in the creative industries.The year-long programme will commence in March 2024 and includes:<ul><li>Training in areas including developing your leadership presence, navigating a successful freelance career, confidence &amp; presence, managing yourself and others, and understanding organisational and freelance finances</li><li>Mentoring from a senior professional in your desired career field for 6 months&nbsp;</li><li>Networking events specifically targeted at mid-level career stage and an exclusive publishing networking event with representatives from our partner publishing houses</li><li>Free / discounted tickets from partner companies to attend conferences, training courses and cultural events  &nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;Participants can expect to increase influence, develop new skills for career progression and have increased confidence to advocate for equal access to training, pay rises and promotions. You’ll also be able to build contacts and working relationships across sectors and take strides to achieve career objectives.The programme is open to freelancers working across the UK, with opportunities to attend training either online or in person. &nbsp;&nbsp;This opportunity is designed for those who:<ul><li>Are currently freelancing, and have been for at least 6 months</li><li>Work within the publishing sector and identify as being at mid-level in their career (c.3-8 years of experience)</li><li>Have had some experience of coordinating or managing projects</li><li>Are interested in developing new skills to help progress their career</li><li>Want to connect with a group of like-minded individuals with similar goals</li><li>Identify as being from an under-represented group in the creative industries. Workshop date and time: Tuesday 10th December 2024, 11am – 12.30pm&nbsp;We'll be exploring key ways to make your workplace neuro-inclusive, with expert-led guidance on support, recruitment and team wellbeing in this 90-minute workshop.Join us for an online workshop to find out how to make your workplace more neuro-inclusive. Facilitated by a consultant clinical psychologist with years of experience in supporting those who are neurodivergent, we’ll take a look at:<ul><li>Practical workplace support measures; reasonable adjustments; what is unreasonable? If you’re a neurodivergent professional – what can you ask for?</li><li>Neurodiverse-friendly recruitment; tips for recruiters and neurodivergent candidates</li><li>Tips for a successful induction programme; ongoing support within teams </li><li>Supporting mental health in teams; Wellness Action Plans; establishing psychological safety for all in the workplace</li><li>Ideas for giving and receiving instructions; delegating work; being aware of and accommodating different styles of work and different ways of thinking</li><li>Resources and signposting</li></ul>The workshop will be help under Chatham House Rules, so all attendees can share ideas and best practice in a safe, interactive and reflective environment.This workshop is&nbsp;capped at&nbsp;15 attendees to ensure plenty of time for questions and discussion. Neurodiversity smart: a workplace toolkit

Workshop date and time: Tuesday 26th November 2024, 11am – 12.30pm.&nbsp;Join our upcoming workshop on tackling sexual harassment in the workplace.From October 2024 the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act will strengthen protection for workers against sexual harassment. This new law will place a new duty on employers to take ‘reasonable steps’ to prevent sexual harassment. We are holding this 90-min online open workshop to lay out the importance of this particular intersection of inclusivity and the law, help you understand what the new legislation means for your workplace, and provide practical tools to remove or reduce risks.&nbsp;Led by DEI expert Antoinette Willcocks, we’ll take a look at:<ul><li>What is ‘sexual harassment’? Recognising the behaviours that constitute sexual harassment</li><li>Understanding the law surrounding sexual harassment</li><li>What to do if you experience or witness sexual harassment in the workplace</li><li>Barriers to disclosure at work and creating a safe environment for disclosure</li><li>Responding appropriately and managing trauma responses</li><li>Remove or reducing risks to stop sexual harassment before it happens.</li></ul>This workshop is&nbsp;capped at&nbsp;15 attendees to ensure plenty of time for questions and discussion.
