Bloomsbury Publishing is looking for an Area Sales Manager, Ireland maternity cover to join our established sales team of 3 people selling the Bloomsbury Consumer – Bloomsbury Adult, Children’s, Special Interest and Head of Zeus - titles into the territory of Ireland.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and sales-hungry professional with a real passion for launching and growing the sales of titles from new and established authors, to be a part of the wider, fast-growing, fast-moving and high-performing Sales Team of a top 5 UK publisher.

We are looking for a confident communicator to work collaboratively with internal and external contacts to ambitiously increase our Irish sales in line with Bloomsbury’s overall growth plans working in tandem with our wider sales team to lead our best-in-class salespeople in delivering ambitious and sustainable sales, profit and market growth for authors across the lists.

The Area Sales Manager, Ireland may be responsible for a specific area of the lists and customer base depending on the broader expertise and opportunities that come up through the recruiting process.

The role will report into the Senior Key Account Manager, Ireland and will be based from home in Ireland with team support from the 3rd team member, a sales assistant based in London, and will require periodic trips to our London office (likely 4 times a year).

The Role

  • Responsible for sales in the territory, management of the trading relationships and working directly with all customers to grow sales and achieve UK Sales team targets.
  • To work closely with different Consumer Teams to maximize all divisional sales through the Irish market.
  • Identifying and developing new relationships with potential customers, ensuring customer needs are understood and selecting appropriate product solutions.
  • Working with the wider Bloomsbury teams to ensure customers have all the necessary material and information to maximize sales of our books and liaise with office-based contacts to coordinate author events
  • Provide general support to the Senior Key Account Manager, Ireland as required, including market research, gathering market feedback and data analysis.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Previous sales experience required
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated and Independent, a self-starter
  • Must have a full clean driving license

The role is a full-time, 12 month fixed term position, based remotely in Ireland, to start as soon as possible.
