Interested in product reviews and consumer journalism? Spend six weeks researching products, analysing test results and creating content that helps people choose what to buy.

Which? is the UK's consumer champion, here to make life simpler, fairer and safer for everyone. We help millions of people a month with our broad range of useful everyday advice. But did you know we were behind introducing laws around lead-free paint in children's toys in the '60s, seat belts in cars in the '80s and keeping cash machine withdrawals fee-free in the noughties? More recently we successfully campaigned to introduce a law to ensure scam victims are reimbursed if they are tricked into transferring money to fraudsters – a huge victory for consumers.

It's our brilliant people that make what we do possible. We're ambitious and collaborative, but also empowering and supportive, so you can bring your best self to work. Which? is a place where you can do great things, for yourself and the people of the UK.

About the Team

Product Testing delivers the research, testing and content that drive the reviews that Which? publishes for its 400,000+ members. We lab test thousands of products each year from laptops to lawnmowers and present the results in our magazines, on which.co.uk and on social media. Our research also supports our wider mission, for example, by uncovering unsafe or unsecure products and advocating on behalf of all UK consumers, not just our members. This work experience will give you an insight into Which? research processes and how we deliver content that helps consumers make better buying choices

Product Testing sits in Which?'s content division. It's a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Market Analysts (who research consumer markets to guide what we test and when), Scientific Advisors (who devise and manage our test programmes) and Content Owners (who project manage and write reviews and articles based on lab test findings).

You'll be working alongside more than 40 colleagues in Product Testing and will be buddied up with someone who knows the ropes. We'll try to adapt your internship experience to the areas you find most interesting, and some of the things you could learn in your time here include:

  • How our market analysts research products and what techniques they use to choose what to test
  • How product test programmes are devised to ensure they are accurate and relevant to consumer needs
  • How to use data analysis tools to turn raw lab data into understandable test results that help consumers make the right buying decisions
  • Take a mix of product reviews, advice guides and news stories from conception to publishing online or in our magazines.
  • Learn important skills relating to print and online publishing including search engine optimisation, using AI tools and tailoring content for social media
