Calling audio producers and Archers fans! Join the BBC and take charge of producing engaging weekly podcast content that connects with a loyal audience.
BBC Audio specialises in audio content. We're made up of 450+ colleagues who produce over 80 hours of content every single day from bases across the UK. We supply programmes, podcasts and music for almost all of the BBC's radio networks and BBC Sounds. Our creative teams produce 20,500 shows and make an extraordinary range of content - from Radio 1's Breakfast Show with Greg James to Radio 4 favourites such as Woman’s Hour.
The Archers Podcast is one of our newest titles. Launched in October 2024, it has quickly built a loyal and enthusiastic audience on BBC Sounds. Each week, the podcast offers lively conversations about the week in Ambridge, as well as sharing behind-the-scenes insights and celebrating the long history of the Archers.
Responsibilities
- We’re now looking for a content producer to run the podcast and to develop it as it enters its second year
- You’ll work closely with presenter Emma Freud
- This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to develop your production skills and manage your own weekly podcast
- You will liaise with the Archers production team, keeping across the latest storylines
- It’s an exciting time to take the podcast forward, as The Archers will celebrate its 75th birthday in January 2026 and the podcast will be part of the celebrations
Knowledge, skills and experience
- You are an Archers listener, up-to-date with the latest storylines, and with a sense of the programme’s history
- You can generate a strong range of ideas, using the latest events in Ambridge to set up lively and thoughtful discussions, drawing on a variety of voices
- You have imaginative ideas about the use of moments from the deep Archers archive
- You’re a confident audio editor, able to edit clips and the weekly recording, often to a tight deadline
- You are a good communicator with strong personal organisational skills, working with a high-profile presenter, and high-profile guests
- You can use audience emails and WhatsApp messages to generate engaging podcast content, building strong connections with the listeners
