Event date: Thursday 31st July 2025
Event time: 6-8.30pm
Location: V&A South Kensington, London, SW7 2RL
For our July masterclass, Creative Access is thrilled to be partnering with V&A South Kensington to offer our community exclusive after-hours access to their powerful new exhibition, Design and Disability.
This special evening will begin with a talk by exhibition manager Catriona Macdonald, who will share unique behind-the-scenes insights into the making of the exhibition, from curatorial decisions to the stories that shaped the final display. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the significance of the show, learn how museums are rethinking accessibility and representation, and explore the creative processes involved in highlighting underrepresented voices in design.
Design and Disability is both a celebration and a call to action. It showcases the radical contributions of Disabled, Deaf, and neurodivergent people and communities to design history and contemporary culture, spanning from the 1940s to the present day.
This is a unique opportunity to explore the exhibition in an intimate setting, connect with like-minded creatives, and reflect on the intersection of design, identity, and inclusivity.
This event is aimed at people who are under-represented in the creative industries. This includes, but is not limited to, individuals who identify as Black, Asian, or from other ethnically diverse backgrounds, or people of any ethnicity who belong to the following under-represented groups: disabled people, individuals with the characteristic of gender reassignment, individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, carers and asylum seekers.
