White Cube is one of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries, representing over 60 international artists and artist estates. 

We are looking for an experience Goods In Manager to oversee and manage our deliveries and collections at the White Cube Bermondsey warehouse.

 

Responsibilities

  • Booking in and out of artworks at Bermondsey ensuring that records are correct including the recording of dimensions, weights, packing specs and of the correct labelling of items.
  • Managing the safe loading and unloading of vehicles at White Cube Bermondsey, overseeing all loading bay area ensuring H&S best practice is observed & adhered to
  • Planning and scheduling the delivery and release of artworks with Registrar and Exhibition departments including client purchases and institutional loans, updating the shipping calendar. 
  • Overseeing fine art and materials carriers entering and leaving the forecourt do so safely with consideration for the gallery entrance and the safety of the general public
  • Monitoring storage levels at Bermondsey and working with the Warehouse Manager to retain or shift inventory to other storage facilities thus ensuring that only active stock is stored on the Bermondsey site.
  • Adjusting storage capacity and forward planning with the Warehouse Manager for any special projects.
  • Planning and overseeing shuttles between warehouses and liaising closely with the Warehouse Resources Manager on the staffing needs for both Bermondsey & Wevco sites for these operations.
  • Planning for and oversight of large-scale stock transfers to and from our other galleries globally including the packing and unpacking of sea containers.
  • Completing and filing shipping documentation for deliveries and releases of artworks.
  • Assessing supplier delivery performance and feeding this information back to the respective teams.
  • Developing and implementing reliable processes & policies.
  • Using specialist knowledge (such as mechanical handling systems) to provide information to other company departments.
  • Working with the Warehouse Manager on 6 monthly stock checks, ensuring all stock is accurately accounted for and ready to be audited
  • Providing cover to other roles within the warehouse team as necessary.

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Previous experience working in a gallery environment or an art shipping company. Must have an excellent understanding of how artworks are packed and handled.
  • Desirable for candidate to have: Forklift driving experience, driving licence, IPAF licence, IOSH or other experience in producing risk assessments
