This is a great opportunity to explore a design career in publishing, with practical workshops, industry insights and networking with Hachette UK’s design teams.

Hachette UK announces the return of its award-winning and free-to-attend Design Festival. Taking place on 24 November 2026, it is created to demystify the publishing industry for designers from Black, Asian, Mixed Heritage and Minority Ethnic communities.

This year’s attendees will gain a behind-the-scenes understanding of what employers are looking for in design applicants and how design teams collaborate across departments to bring books to life. The day also features hands—on creative workshops and exclusive networking opportunities with industry peers and Hachette UK’s designers.

This will involve a day of;

  • Understanding what employers want to see in your portfolio and how to put together applications for publishing roles.
  • Hearing how designers collaborate with other departments such as editorial, sales and production.
  • Creative workshops.
  • Networking with peers and finding out more from highly talented designers with varying design backgrounds and experience.

The Design Festival will be based at our Central London office – Carmelite House, 50 Victoria Embankment, EC4Y 0DZ. We will also be supporting your attendance by paying for reasonable economy travel expenses (max £50 contribution) and providing lunch.
