Walk the Plank seeks a brilliant Marketing & Communications Officer to support the development and implementation of the company’s sales and marketing strategy. Our marketing and communications department plays a key role in promoting what we do to potential clients, engaging participants and working collaboratively with clients to promote our work to audiences. We are looking for a highly competent marketing professional to make an impact in this fast-paced role, which sits at the heart of our team, and which will draw upon a range of skills across the full marketing mix.

What you'll be doing

To work as part of the Marketing Team alongside the Head of Marketing to plan and deliver the company’s core new business, marketing and communications functions in an efficient and effective way.

Your primary focus is to support the development and implementation of the company’s sales and marketing strategy, acting as the central point of information for all staff who play a role in selling and promoting the company’s work, liaising with promoters as necessary and proactively ensuring all leads are followed through.

This is a small department with additional support from freelance staff, so you will need an agile approach to working across a range of different projects simultaneously. The key purpose of your role is to ensure we continue to sustain a healthy pipeline of new work and prospects, while also managing relationships we have with existing clients.

What we are looking for

Essential

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a marketing role within an arts, cultural, entertainment or similar environment.
  • Proven interest in the creative sector (freelance work, voluntary work, and degree coursework will be taken into consideration)
  • Demonstrable ability to get on with a wide variety of people at all levels and to work well within a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Including strong copywriting skills
  • Ability to deliver online marketing campaigns incl. using social media
  • Contextual (work-related) self-confidence and assertiveness
  • Knowledge & experience of delivering, commissioning or producing documentation via film & photography.
  • Experience of using systems and tools for Business Development and prospects monitoring such as CRM, Trello, 365 project etc
  • Ability to deal with correct prioritisation of tasks when faced with limited resources
  • Ability to edit and update website content using a CMS (experience with Prismic an advantage)
  • Ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision
  • Ability to deliver high quality work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to organise and schedule multiple campaigns simultaneously
  • Ability to think creatively around the Walk the Plank brand
  • High level of computer literacy in MS Oice Software particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to create visuals for presentations/proposals using Canva, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign or other design software
  • Knowledge and experience in email marketing tools such as MailChimp

Desirable

  • Experience of B2B (business to business) marketing
  • Experience in working with press and PR
  • Experience of bid, tender or proposal writing
