As an intern at Riot Communications, you'll gain hands-on experience of PR agency life. You’ll be joining a team of highly experienced colleagues and supporting a range of PR campaigns for leading arts, culture and entertainment brands. You’ll also have the opportunity to help deliver Riot’s marketing strategy through media relations and social media. Through a structured induction process, we’ll ensure you’re exposed to every aspect of the role. You’ll receive on-the-job training, supported by a dedicated line manager to help you develop your skills. You’ll be based at the Splendid Collective’s offices in east London, a vibrant community with regular socials, office lunches, and a dog-friendly space.
Key activities
These are some of the things you’ll get stuck into:
- Daily digesting of a broad range of national, consumer and industry media titles and online/social content and trends, so you learn to recognise opportunities for clients and build your knowledge and contacts
- Drafting copy for team communications, shorter press materials and social content
- Pitching to the media, selling in stories and content ideas for your clients to journalists and influencers
- Logging media coverage, image rights and, where relevant, social analytics and helping your team to report back on results
- Organising and helping to deliver media and influencer mailers, including going out to shops in London to buy samples, managing sample deliveries and liaising with couriers
- Assisting with events, including researching costs and logistics where needed
- Taking part in brainstorming and learning how to generate creative ideas for the agency and clients
- Presenting your thoughts and ideas to your team during weekly Campaigns Team meetings
- Working with your line manager to regularly review your progress and learning, ensuring you get the best out of your experience

What we are looking for
We are looking for individuals with:
- A strong interest in pursuing a career in a PR agency and a good understanding of what that involves
- A genuine passion for arts, culture and entertainment
- Passion for reading a range of print and online editorial media, social and digital news updates and following content from influencers
- Understanding and enthusiasm for how the most popular social media channels work, with some knowledge of how brands use them
- Strong skills in written and spoken English communication
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to take responsibility for actions and meet deadlines with a can-do attitude
