Contract type: 1 x fixed term contract ending 31/08/2026. This role often requires “non-standard” hours as we match the sporting schedule, the standard work pattern is 4 X 10-hour shifts per week with significant work in the evenings and at weekends.

From Instagram Reels to YouTube Shorts, create cutting-edge content that brings the biggest sporting events to life across social media.
We are looking for individuals to help bring the best of our sports rights portfolio to life on these digital platforms. You will be expected to help manage this team’s day-to-day priorities across BBC Sport, BBC iPlayer and social media and take editorial ownership of the video we make out of our biggest rights events, such as the Premier League, Women’s Super League, Champions League, Wimbledon, international cricket and Winter Olympics.
BBC Sport online is the largest online sports site/app in the UK and on social media has a following of more than 30m sports fans, while BBC iPlayer has a growing library of sports highlights and features.
You will join a vibrant, creative, digital-first team immersed in creating cutting-edge content. Every day we produce video for TikTok trends, Instagram Reels, immersive mid-form YouTube content and creative material for the country’s biggest sports website. This is a team that is always experimenting with our content and with our tone of voice.
Responsibilities
- Lead the editorial team for digital video during major events and day-to-day
- Oversee the planning, execution and publication of video content aligned to our rights portfolio
- Identify creative opportunities to develop BBC Sport’s video content on our own platforms and on social media
- Ensure published content is of the highest standard and adheres to BBC editorial policy and rights agreements
- Line manage and nurture the development of individuals within the team
- Liaise and collaborate with other teams and individuals both inside and outside of BBC Sport
Knowledge, skills & experience
- You’ll need excellent editorial judgement and a real and proven interest in a number of different sports (please evidence this in your application)
- Experience of leading an editorial team, including giving feedback and helping individuals to develop (please evidence this in your application)
- Experience of digital video production and an understanding of best practice for sports video for a social media audience. Why would we post a certain type of video on YouTube but not on X? Which of our on-screen presenters and pundits would connect best with our Instagram followers? And how might we entertain the audience on TikTok while still maintaining our high editorial standards? (please evidence this in your application)
- You will be able to work calmly and collaboratively in a high-pressure, fast-turnaround environment
- You will be an excellent communicator, able to collaborate with other teams within BBC Sport and beyond in order to deliver the best outcomes and be comfortable working alongside high-profile talent
