Content management is responsible for supporting content delivery across the portfolio: linear, streaming and listings services. We support live events, platform/content launches and the management of access services. The department is business critical and needs to meet changing business demands. The programme information team is responsible for publishing TV listings, electronic programme guides (EPGs) and streaming metadata for all Channel 4 channels.
The role is focused on collating and editing programme information that abides by the department’s editorial policy and can be published across EPGs, TV listings and streaming platforms for all Channel 4 channels, and managing the publication of information in relevant systems.
Responsibilities
- Editing high-quality, well-written, accurate programme information and metadata for streaming platforms, the Listings site and EPGs
- Ensuring that content is consistent with the department’s editorial policy
- Publication and ownership of listings and/or EPGs including publication of schedules, synopses and updates, while meeting regular deadlines
- Management and publication of editorial metadata for streaming platforms
- Managing the workload efficiently and meeting regular, strict publication deadlines
- Working flexibly, and completing any last-minute changes accurately and promptly
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and external contacts, and performing tasks to support the collective efforts of the Programme Information team
- Developing and adapting to responsibilities as the role changes with the ever-changing industry trends
- Developing a good understanding of C4 systems and applications
- This role will be responsible for editorial metadata on content commissioned from all Channel 4 locations
- Working independently and building relationships with the department and stakeholders
Knowledge, skills and experience
Technical & professional skills
- Accuracy, excellent standards of writing and grammar, keen attention to detail, and the initiative to self-manage are all essential
- An aptitude for different types of software and programmes is important. The ability to embrace technology is essential as the job requires data input across a variety of systems
- A questioning mind and awareness of sensitivities regarding programme content are also key
- A flexible approach to work and an ability to work well under pressure, to short-term deadlines, and to balance competing priorities are vital
- Demonstrable editorial awareness
- Experience of working on websites in an editorial or technical role is an advantage
- Knowledge of relevant compliance and rights issues is beneficial
Autonomy/judgement/decision making
- Self-motivated with a hands-on approach
- A flexible approach to work and an ability to prioritise tasks are vital
Relationship management
- Able to build new relationships across multiple locations
- Can tactfully and diplomatically extract information from colleagues
