Trainee researcher (C4 Production Training Scheme)
Closing date for applications: 6th May 2025
Salary: £25,000 per annum (£27,000 for roles based in London)
We’re proud to announce the launch of one of 4Skills’ flagship programmes: the Production Training Scheme – a key initiative reshaping access to the TV industry.
This 12-month scheme, delivered in partnership with thinkBIGGER!, who provide week-long training bootcamps on all things industry-focused to the trainees, places budding talent in full-time, paid roles as either trainee researchers or trainee production coordinators within the UK’s leading independent production companies.
To search for the trainee researcher opportunities and to submit an application, please visit the website via the Apply button.
This year, we’ve partnered with 18 indies across Belfast, Glasgow, Cardiff, Wrexham, London, Leeds, Manchester, and Bristol.
But this isn’t just about recruitment — it’s about long-term industry transformation. By breaking down barriers and championing underrepresented voices, we’re investing in the next generation of production professionals. Through structured training, hands-on experience, and ongoing mentorship, we're equipping talent with the tools they need to thrive — and helping build a more inclusive industry in the process.
An ex-trainee, Mahi Iftikhar (now Series Producer) says: The PTS is one of the most incredible stepping stone into the industry. Having the opportunity to be placed at a reputable company for a year allows you to gain an immense amount of experience and build an invaluable network of contacts. The scheme itself is an incredibly supportive environment that’s later-focused on your training and development, and years later, I’m still reaping its benefits.
Want to find out more? Or know anyone who might be interested in applying? The scheme is now live, with applications closing at noon on May 6. Successful applicants will begin in mid-September.
