Epigeum was established as a spinout company from Imperial College London in 2005, before being acquired by Oxford University Press in 2015. Over the past 15 years, and now with 30 members of staff, it has developed, hosted, and maintained a wide range of interactive, online training courses to support the core activities of higher education institutions around the world, with over 200 universities currently using our courses to advance the knowledge and skills of their academic and professional staff, researchers, and students. Each interactive, online course is developed through a unique process of global collaboration between world-class subject experts, partner institutions, and in-house specialists, before being made available to universities and colleges on a subscription basis – ensuring that the finished content is of the highest quality, and making consistent, cost-effective training achievable for all.
About the role
The academic partnerships representative is responsible for promoting and selling Epigeum’s courses to higher education institutions in order to meet and surpass revenue targets for their territory. The jobholder will manage customer research, lead generation and qualification, and management of regional accounts under the guidance of the academic partnerships manager. The jobholder will also be responsible for organising and maintaining our pipeline and customer data records in our CRM system and working closely with the regional academic partnership manager and the Implementation Team to progress opportunities and win business.
This role is ideally suited to someone with some office-based experience who is looking to start their career with an established brand.
Duties of the role will include:
- Account management– ensure renewal of current subscriptions, upsell existing products and identify new opportunities in order to meet agreed revenue targets
- Research & lead generation – identify and validate potential new customers in order to generate new sales opportunities
- CRM system – using Salesforce, actively manage customer data in the pipeline in order to help prioritise sales activity
- Customer support – work closely with the Implementation Team to provide an outstanding level of customer support and care
- Quoting & negotiation – work closely with the regional academic partnerships manager to provide proposals that meet customer needs and maximise revenue and surplus for Epigeum
- Communication - Maintain regular communication with the Partnerships and Implementation teams, and with the other Epigeum teams, as necessary
- Administrative support - Provide administrative support to the wider Partnerships team
We are currently thinking through how we use our offices in the future and are open to discussing flexibility within this such as a blend of office and home working. This role will require regular travel to the central London office.
Knowledge, skills, experience
Ideally, you will have the following skills, which need to be referenced in your supporting statement:
- An understanding and appreciation of the higher education sector – the environment, structure and key challenges
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including delivering effective presentations virtually and confidence in dealing with customers by phone
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively to ensure that deadlines are met
- Knowledge of web-based sales tools, sales databases etc. and of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as excellent numerical and data management skills
- Self-motivation and proactivity, with a positive can-do attitude and an effective team player
- Experience of working with customers to assist with the delivery of technology and online course products, and offering support where required
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- A good educational standard or equivalent professional experience
- Strong negotiation skills
- Highly numerate
