New Adventures is an iconic and ground-breaking British dance-theatre company, famous for telling stories with a unique theatrical twist. For over 30 years Matthew Bourne and New Adventures have delighted, inspired and nurtured people of all ages and backgrounds: audiences, artists and the next generation. They create world class productions and engaging projects, reaching thousands worldwide every year.

Working closely with the administration manager, the creative content producer (CCP) and the New Adventures staff team, the communications assistant will support the company’s communications strategy and help to develop and advance their engagement with audiences.

What you will learn

Social media and content

  • Create and schedule content for social media platforms supported by the creative content producer
  • Maintain and populate social media platforms, engage and respond appropriately to comments
  • Manage Instagram takeovers and specific venue content requests
  • Take photos at rehearsals, workshops and events
  • Assist the creative content producer in ensuring that approvals and rights are secured for content and that the correct credits are used
  • Track and log statistics on social media and website engagement and report as required

Website

  • Ensure News Stories are updated with press releases and other news from across the company
  • Assist in managing and cataloguing photography and film assets
  • Update and maintain the website supported by Supercool (website agency)
  • Oversee major update work as required with Supercool

Communications

  • Minute press and marketing meetings as required
  • Check marketing copy and bios are regularly updated; collate content and write copy for the monthly newsletter and internal communications
  • Provide support for press launches, photoshoots and other events
  • Keep internal and external content Dropboxes up to date and archiving on server
  • Ensure Arts Council marketing team is updated on New Adventures activity
  • Support the creative content producer in collating information and content for the Annual Review (a public facing report that details our achievements and activity across a year)
  • Update New Adventures programme pages for touring venues working with external designer
  • Support the development team with imagery, invitation design and printing as required

Audience monitoring

  • Collate data on audience numbers and sales and report as required
  • Assist in maintenance of Google AdGrant (a programme that provides free Google Ads to select charitable organisations) with the relevant external agency

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • Communication skills – verbal and written
  • Good digital skills, including the ability to create engaging digital content
  • Administration skills, including time management and organisation
  • Teamwork, flexibility and a proactive approach
  • Interested in communications and working for an arts organisation with various stakeholders and across a broad scope of activity from productions to Take Part workshops

Desirable

  • A keen interest in dance/the arts
  • A keen interest in social media
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fully IT literate and confident using Apple OS and Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Desire to work collaboratively as part of a small team and in varied environments
