Runner/trainee researcher

Swan Films is an independent BAFTA-winning production company founded and run by Neil Crombie and Joe Evans, specialising in quality factual programmes. Working with the best talent, both behind and in front of the camera, Swan makes television that is ambitious, distinctive and entertaining. Some of their award-winning work includes Grayson’s Art Club, feature-length documentary The Last Igloo and The Extraordinary Life of April Ashley
They are looking for a runner/trainee researcher to join their team for a six month contract starting on 19 September. The role will include training across programme development and production, and will involve working in the office and on shoots. The ideal candidate will have a passion for documentaries and would love to pursue a career in factual TV with this leading dynamic company. Responsibilities
- Assisting on shoots
- Assisting with development research
- Assisting with production support
- Helping with equipment
- Backing up rushes and setting up drives
- Answering the phone
- Managing incoming/outgoing post
- General office duties
Knowledge, skills, experience
- Genuine passion for factual TV
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work well under pressure
Desirable
- Basic understanding of camera/sound gear would be useful but not essential
- Knowledge of backing up data from camera cards would be useful but not essential
