Working pattern: Hybrid - minimum of two days per week in the office; up to three days per week working from home

Bonnier Books UK is looking for an assistant editor to join their market-leading non-fiction team. The successful candidate will support across the Blink list and report into the publishing director.
Blink is a small and focused list that has featured bestselling books from authors including Freddie Flintoff, Katherine Ryan, Josh Widdicombe, Lily Allen, Cody Dahler, Pierre Novellie, Snack Hacker and Dan Whitlam, among many others. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a valued member of a fast-moving, friendly and collaborative publishing team, where you’ll have the opportunity to work across a varied list with big-name and brand authors.
The ideal candidate would be a conscientious, collaborative and detail-oriented team-player with a passion for books and an enthusiasm for a wide range of non-fiction, looking to take the next step in their publishing career.

Key responsibilities
- Working with the publishing director, editorial director and senior editor across the Blink list, assisting on specific titles on all aspects of the publishing process, including copyediting and proofreading.
- Oversee the scheduling and editorial critical paths to ensure publication runs to schedule, with Biblio knowledge a benefit but not a necessity
- Report on submissions and contribute to discussions about potential new title acquisitions
- Attend editorial and wider divisional meetings
- Acting as a point of contact for author queries, resolving problems and answering questions promptly and accurately.
- Liaising with other members of the non-fiction team as well as colleagues from other departments such as production, design, marketing, and sales.
- Writing and editing marketing and cover copy and product descriptions.
- Assisting with and contributing to the development of new book projects
- Additional administrative duties, as required
Qualifications and Experience
- An ambitious and creative self-starter with a passion for books, particularly in the area where Blink publishes.
- An interest in learning and developing both editorial and commissioning skills within a fast-paced and outward-looking department.
- Ability to manage jobs from inception to completion to the highest standard
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent organisation and time management
- Well versed in essential Microsoft and/or Apple office packages
- Previous editorial experience of 1-2 years
