Ready to take the next step in marketing? Support campaigns, email communications and audience engagement for a children’s magazine.

The Phoenix is a weekly magazine for 7–14 year olds that's packed with incredible comics, drawing guides, and plenty more. The Phoenix is looking for an organised, creative and commercially minded Marketing Executive to join our team.

This is a broad, hands-on role supporting subscription growth, brand activity and audience engagement across The Phoenix in the UK and US. It combines planned campaign work with ongoing marketing support, with the opportunity to support growing an exciting children’s brand.

You’ll work closely with the Senior Sales and Marketing Manager (Subscriptions and Brand), and alongside colleagues in Marketing, Operations and the wider Phoenix/DFB teams. You’ll help deliver campaigns and customer communications, coordinate activity across teams and external partners, and provide the reporting, administration and practical support that keeps projects moving.

Role Breakdown

Campaigns, content & CRM

  • Supporting brand, subscription and email campaigns from set-up through to delivery, keeping on top of timelines, materials, testing and sign-off.
  • Helping coordinate UK and US marketing activity, working with internal teams and external partners to keep campaigns on track.
  • Building and scheduling marketing emails, and supporting CRM activity, customer communications and campaign administration.
  • Helping with social media content and scheduling. Basic video creation or editing skills would be useful, but aren’t essential.

Paid media & print

  • Helping deliver paid media campaigns (paid social and search) and print advertising, working with agencies, media owners and suppliers on briefs, bookings, assets and deadlines.
  • Keeping track of bookings, spend and results so the team can see what’s working and where to adjust.

Data, reporting & competitor insight

  • Pulling together regular data, campaign results and reports, and keeping trackers up to date.
  • Supporting audience and customer analysis to help shape future campaigns and offers.
  • Running regular competitor analysis: keeping an eye on UK and US children’s magazines, comics and subscription brands, tracking their offers, pricing, campaigns and creative, and sharing what you find with the team.

Operations & customer experience

  • Working closely with Operations on campaign set-up, offers and promo codes, customer journeys, fulfilment and practical delivery.
  • Supporting customer feedback and review activity, including Trustpilot and Feefo, and flagging useful insight to the team.

Brand, events & practical support

  • Supporting wider brand activity, including podcast promotion, Comic Club, Book Club and partnerships.
  • Attending and helping to run events outside the office, including Thought Bubble, Phoenix Fest and other festivals and shows. This involves travel and some evening or weekend work, agreed in advance.
  • Providing general marketing administration and practical support, including organising materials, comics and resources for campaigns, events and other activity.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, comfortable with detail and data, and happy working across a mix of campaign delivery and day-to-day support. You’ll be a strong communicator who can manage your own workload, follow projects through reliably and work well with different teams.

You might already be a Marketing Executive, or a Marketing Assistant ready to take the next step. Experience in subscriptions, publishing, consumer marketing or CRM/email would be useful, but above all we’re looking for good marketing fundamentals, strong organisational skills and a willingness to learn.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Marketing experience at Assistant or Executive level, or a relevant marketing qualification.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload and see projects through.
  • Comfortable working with data, including using spreadsheets for trackers, campaign results and simple reporting.
  • A clear, confident communicator, able to write good marketing copy and work well with colleagues and external partners.
  • A solid grasp of marketing fundamentals: the main channels, campaign metrics and how marketing drives subscriptions and sales.
  • Happy to switch between campaign delivery and day-to-day support, and able to travel to events, including occasional weekends.

Desirable

  • Experience in subscriptions, publishing or consumer marketing.
  • Hands-on experience of an email/CRM platform, such as Klaviyo.
  • Some exposure to paid social, paid search or print advertising.
  • Social media scheduling experience and basic video creation or editing skills.
  • An interest in comics, children’s entertainment and children’s publishing.
