Launch your PR career by managing your own book campaigns alongside social media and publicity activity.

HarperFiction is a division of HarperCollins UK, and publishes some of the biggest commercial writers in the business including Lucy Foley, Karin Slaughter, Jeffrey Archer and Clare Balding. It is home to world leading genre imprint Voyager, publisher of George R. R. Martin, Sarah A Parker and RF Kuang; literary imprint The Borough Press, home of Bella Mackie, Tracy Chevalier and Lionel Shriver; crime and thriller imprint Hemlock Press, publisher of Jane Casey, Abigail Dean and Andrew Taylor; and the literary estates of Agatha Christie and J. R. R. Tolkien. HarperCollins UK in turn is part of a global business within HarperCollins Worldwide and News Corp.

We’re looking for a driven, organised and creative PR Executive to join our busy, award-winning publicity team. This is a hands-on role combining core publicity admin with social media management and content delivery for campaigns, events and tours. You’ll keep the publicity engine running—managing title allocations, purchase orders and team meetings—while also shaping how our campaigns are seen and shared across media and social channels. Plus, you will have your own campaigns to manage. If you love detail, are great at taking the initiative and want to make a visible impact on high-profile publicity activity, this is an exciting, entry level opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Publicity administration
  • Maintain and update team title allocations
  • Raise, track and reconcile PO and invoices
  • Produce a twice annual title catalogue for external media stakeholders
  • Maintain media contact lists and be aware of new channels and media opportunities
  • Schedule, prepare and run regular publicity team meetings; produce agendas, minutes and action tracking.
  • Monitor media coverage of campaigns, compile weekly internal reports
  • Ensure coverage is amplified and shared across relevant teams and channels in a timely way
  • Social media and content management
  • Run and maintain the team’s social media accounts, growing our following and having ownership of our creative output
  • Manage and publish content generated at events and on tours; repurpose event content for channels in a strategic way
  • Create assets for the promotion of tours and events across the team
  • Track social performance and audience engagement, suggesting any improvements
  • Collaboration & creative input
  • As well as supporting the senior team on some of the highest profile campaigns, the PR Executive will also have their own title list across the imprints (SFF, general fiction, crime and thriller and literary crossover), and will plan and execute their own campaigns

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Highly organised with an exceptional eye for detail and excellent time-management skills
  • A proactive self-starter who can manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and meet tight deadlines
  • Creative flair — able to create engaging social content and offer fresh ideas for campaign promotion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident producing internal and external comms and social copy
  • Experience managing social media channels and using analytics tools to inform content decisions
  • Comfortable working collaboratively and supporting a team; able to run meetings and keep colleagues aligned
  • Comfortable supporting on evening events, and the occasional weekend event/tour
  • Familiarity with PR and office systems, and asset creation/video editing tools is a plus
