Run publicity campaigns for established authors and new voices across Bonnier Books UK’s adult trade list.

At Bonnier Books UK, we believe that every book matters. We love to publish stories and content that open our eyes to new perspectives and bring us closer together. We offer a nurturing home for our authors, illustrators and brand partners, publishing bestselling books for readers and listeners everywhere. We know that fantastic stories can come from anywhere and our purpose is to bring them to as wide an audience as possible, a simple ethos that has led to us becoming one of the country’s leading publishers.

An exciting opportunity has come up in the Bonnier Books UK adult trade publicity team for a dynamic PR professional who will be responsible for their own authors and campaigns.

In this role, you’ll be running publicity campaigns across our entire adult trade list, fiction and non-fiction, with a particular focus on our fiction imprints across the business. This is a hugely varied list including exciting debut talents, iconic brands and established stars such as T.M. Logan, Susie Dent, Anton Du Beke, Sophie Gravia and Lynda La Plante. You will work autonomously on campaigns as well as help shape the strategy for our books, authors and imprints. You will work closely with the rest of the team to inform our acquisition and publishing decisions, set priorities, deliver exceptional author care, and help bring new authors into the group.

It is a fun, busy and exciting role and requires an individual who can juggle numerous tasks, prioritise effectively, and remain calm under pressure.

Key responsibilities

  • Independently plan and execute publicity campaigns for allocated titles, delivering consistent coverage in line with business priorities.
  • Draft press releases for trade and consumer media for book campaigns.
  • Work closely with the publishing team, actively participating in acquisition, positioning, and packaging discussions to align publishing decisions with the book’s target audience.
  • Work closely with the sales team to identify promotional opportunities across the front and backlist.
  • Be the primary point of contact internally for their authors and allocated campaigns, and manage author-facing discussions as required.
  • Demonstrate an ability to build strong long-term relationships with key publishing media as well as authors.
  • Establish a solid network of bookseller and industry-side contacts, and network at events.
  • Plan and manage events for authors, launches and showcases.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current experience of a Publicity or Communications role is essential – this role would be perfect for a Press Officer or Senior Press Officer wanting to take the next step in their publicity career.
  • A strong track record of delivering successful adult fiction and non-fiction publicity campaigns, ideally with experience working on commercial fiction titles.
  • Experience with managing expectations, budgets, reporting on KPIs and a proven ability to adapt publicity strategies to target audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills – can work cross-functionally and earn trust with stakeholders and peers across the business and externally
  • Ability to identify key components to create a successful campaign, deliver according to sales targets, and prioritise effectively.
  • Success at this level requires a high level of organisation and time management skills, with the ability to juggle shifting workloads and priorities.
  • Consistently delivers on campaigns to meet or exceed targets.
  • Is reactive, flexible, and able to deliver on ad-hoc short-term projects as required.
  • Demonstrates exceptional media management, and ability to deliver high-profile press placements across print, digital and broadcast on a regular basis.
