This is a key role generating positive press coverage for the NG200 programme, maintaining and developing the global reputation of the National Gallery.

In 2024 the National Gallery will be celebrating NG200 - 200 years of bringing people and paintings together with a year-long festival of art, creativity and imagination which sets the tone for our third century. The bicentenary press & PR manager is a fixed term role that will generate both proactive and reactive media engagement around this milestone.

Working as part of the Press & Public Affairs Department, you will develop PR campaigns and activities that maximize the Gallery’s use of earned media, seamlessly integrating with other NG200 communications activities, such as paid and social media.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with the Press & Public Affairs department to conceptualise and develop NG200 PR campaigns that capture the imagination, enhance the brand and drive positive awareness of the National Gallery
  • You will be a key point of contact for Press & PR with our NG200 stakeholders. You will prepare press releases for multi channel distribution to appropriate media organisations
  • You will organise and run NG200 press and PR events. You will identify and implement opportunities to use all types of communications channels effectively to raise awareness of NG200 and the National Gallery
  • You will prepare Q&A and other briefing documents

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • Demonstrable experience of reputational management for an internationally recognised brand
  • Solid experience of crisis management for an internationally recognised brand
  • Ability to balance numerous deadlines and deliver work on time and on budget
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in delivering Press and PR campaigns
  • Ability to plan proactive press campaigns, as well as reactive messaging
  • Ability to work to multiple deadlines on projects and tasks
  • Detail orientated
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Ability to come up with creative solutions
