Genre assistant, news and current affairs (12 month fixed-term contract)

The department is responsible for commissioning a wide range of current affairs programmes, including Channel Four News, Dispatches, Unreported World, major current affairs documentaries, studio programmes and series.
The programmes must simultaneously reach broad audiences on C4 and All4 and reinforce our public service remit through revelatory journalism and innovation in form.
Job purpose
- To provide the highest level of administrative support to the News and Current Affairs team
Key responsibilities
- Assistant to multiple commissioning editors in the News and Current Affairs team
- Provide full administrative support including diary management, travel arrangements, arranging events, dealing with general correspondence, and expenses filing
- Ensure visitors to the News and Current Affairs team in London are handled appropriately
Knowledge, skills, experience
- Proven ability to cope in a very busy environment, to manage multiple diaries, and to perform in high-pressured situations
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively without supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to work as part of a team, work well with others in an open-plan department and deal politely with visitors from other companies
- Possess a keen attitude and a willingness to learn
- Flexibility, patience, perseverance and commitment to get the job done
- Always display a helpful attitude whilst managing diaries carefully and sensitively
- Ability to assist with the creation of PowerPoint presentations
- Build valued and trusted relationship with senior members of the Commissioning team, and across the business, in order to handle confidential matters appropriately and effectively
- Maintain relationships with peers across all departments
- Holiday/sickness cover for other PA’s across the Commissioning department as required
- Job holder will be operating within an ever-changing environment as well as dealing with both routine and non-routine problems, so a flexible working attitude will be required
