Each multi-skilled Apprentice Theatre Technician will work alongside venue, touring and freelance technical staff - an ideal opportunity to gain insight into the industry and work actively within a busy technical department. During the apprenticeship, training will be undertaken with our partner college to complete Creative Venue Technician Level 3, ABTT Bronze Award and other training relevant to the role. At the end of the contract each Apprentice will have the skills and experience to work confidently within the industry.

MIF invites artists from across the globe to create extraordinary new work for the Festival, which is staged every two years at venues and found spaces across Manchester. We want to bring together a talented pool of production managers to support the work we’re doing now and to help us prepare for The Factory. As a freelance production manager you will work with the show specific producer and MIF’s technical team to deliver the technical aspects of commissions on a variety of scales in conventional and found spaces. This will include:

The Audio Visual team supports the activities of all National Gallery departments for public-facing AV output, commercial venue hire clients and internal staff events.
Part of the Digital team which is in the Digital, Communications and Technology Directorate, the successful post holder will facilitate and support the provision of a diverse range of free and paid-for digitally-delivered events and content both onsite and online.

Producer

We are recruiting for a scenic metalwork apprentice to join our workshops department. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands on experience at a world-class theatre and a Level 2 Welding apprenticeship.
Under the direction of National Theatre (NT) Staff, you will manufacture and repair metal scenery for the NT’s productions and other metal items in the metal fabrication workshop. You will also work on stage fitting up and modifying sets as required for technical rehearsals and repairing damaged sets.  
Throughout the 24-month apprenticeship you will learn about materials used in metal fabrication including various types and shapes/sizes of metal, different fabrication techniques and related materials. You will be using hand and power tools, and metal working machinery while learning about basic stage craft and the installation of scenery on stage. 
The apprenticeship will be split between the National Theatre and the College of North West London at the Willesden Campus. You will spend 1 day a week at the College of North West London. Your remaining time will be spent at the National Theatre workshops learning the craft, key skills and working within the team on projects and productions.

You will provide support with the running of the office and the productions and there is room within this role to assist further on productions with logistics and research. So, the successful candidate should have an interest in television and its changing landscape.
 
What you will learn
<ul>
<li>You will take care of the day-to-day office management</li>
<li>You will help new starters settle in and provide access to the IT and email systems</li>
<li>You will ensure supplies are kept up and that the office is well maintained</li>
<li>The role also involves some diary and resource management</li>
<li>Attention to the office environment, including being a key holder and regularly opening up. Locking up when needed</li>
<li>Basic IT support i.e. providing access, supporting the team with the company systems and preparing work stations</li>
<li>Managing filming kit and arranging couriers for kit and drives</li>
<li>Managing media storage systems</li>

Knowledge, skills, experience
<ul>
<li>You will need to be able to communicate well</li>
<li>Be able to identify issues and opportunities and not be afraid to share your ideas</li>
<li>You will need to be confident with IT packages and will have the ability to handle finances/expenses</li>
<li>You will need to be good at working within a team and cope well with the time pressures that can arise while working on a production</li>

<li>An education to University level or equivalent would be desirable, but not a prerequisite</li>

We are looking for a Senior Development AP or Development Producer with experience in developing factual and factual-entertainment formats and access documentaries.

Responsibilities
●  Generating factual and factual-entertainment formats.
●  Securing access.
●  Writing and producing decks with a high standard of graphic design.
●  Producing and editing sizzles.
●  Pitching to commissioners and talent.
●  Responding to commissioner briefs and network tenders.
●  Research.
●  Organising creative brainstorms.
●  Organising the development slate.

●  Experience in the television industry.
●  A proven track record of developing ideas through to commission.
●  Experience in gaining access.
●  An understanding of regional commissioning opportunities and remits.
