Freelance production managers
Department: Technical
Locations: Manchester International Festival/The Factory
Remote status: Hybrid Remote
Employment type: Contract
We are looking for a number of freelance production managers to work with us on a variety of events, shows and exhibitions for Manchester International Festival 2023 (MIF23) and at The Factory.
We are looking for people at all levels of experience in a range of art forms and events.
We are looking for people who can start in Summer 2022. Join us for our live Zoom session w/c 12 July, to meet the team and find out more about the opportunities available. Further details to come!
We match people to projects that fit their skills and experience, which means your start date and contract length will depend on the project you work on - you could be working on a project for MIF23 or The Factory and/or touring productions to international venues.
MIF invites artists from across the globe to create extraordinary new work for the Festival, which is staged every two years at venues and found spaces across Manchester. The Factory is our new permanent home opening in 2023, a world-class cultural space being built in the heart of the city, where we’ll present a year-round programme and artists will be able to develop work of huge ambition and scale that they might not be able to anywhere else.
We want to bring together a talented pool of production managers to support the work we’re doing now and to help us prepare for The Factory. We are seeking committed and passionate people to deliver an internationally significant creative and cultural programme, which takes dedication but is immensely rewarding.
As a freelance production manager you will work with the show specific producer and MIF’s technical team to deliver the technical aspects of commissions on a variety of scales in conventional and found spaces. This will include:
- Working with the producer and the creative team to ensure that the technical aspects of the project work within the budget, timescale and parameters of the venue (including tour venues)
- Working with external suppliers of equipment and builders
- Creating and managing technical schedules
- Identifying technical staffing needs for each show and building a team as required
- Creating a project manual
- Working with the Creative and Technical teams to create the relevant paperwork and safety documentation
- Scheduling and chairing production meetings
UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES
