As a production controller, you will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your production skills, commercial awareness, and relationship management abilities. You will be involved in the creation and delivery of titles for both trade and special sales, working across various global markets. You will manage all aspects of your list at every stage, including product development, costing, scheduling, delivery, and quality control.You will be an excellent communicator who can build and maintain relationships with sales, suppliers, and creative colleagues. You will understand the commercial significance of the production role and enjoy the challenge of creatively negotiating to tight margins, in line with DK’s department strategy. Your keen eye for detail will ensure you are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team on high-volume workloads. We are looking to recruit a designer who has experience of designing fiction covers and integrated illustrated interiors from initial concepts to final print-ready files. The Bloomsbury children’s fiction list is varied in both subject and age range: we publish young illustrated titles, graphic novels, middle grade and YA, epic fantasy adventures, funny stories, love stories and real-life drama, with a focus on brilliant story-telling for all audiences. We are looking for a designer with enthusiasm, flair and meticulous attention to detail, who is excited by this range of content. This position will give the opportunity to learn, develop and refine their design skills, under the direction and mentoring of an experienced senior team leader.The designer will be responsible for their own assigned projects and will be responsible for their delivery on time and to budget.
